Flappers and Ragtime and Rockers and Cowboys
North Royalton High School, Performing Arts Center, 6 pm. Admission Free

North Royalton Community Band presents "Flappers and Ragtime and Rockers and Cowboys", under the direction of Bill Park. Music for the concert has been selected for its broad appeal and is family entertainment at its best.

The band will perform music to warm your heart on a cold winter's day. Included will be a wide variety of music, from Sousa's Liberty Bell March to Alexander's Ragtime Band. You'll hear sounds of the "old west" in Rio Bravo Overture. And Leroy Anderson's Bluebells of Scotland will feature our awesome flute section. We'll even include one classical piece, Brahms' brilliant Academic Festival Overture, where the composer pokes fun at stuffed shirts in the academic world of his time.

During intermission, North Royalton High School Indoor Drumline, under the direction of David Vitale, will be performing selections from their competition show. You'll be entertained and amazed at the musicality, finesse and incredible variety of sounds so skillfully performed by this youthful, award winning group.

Refreshments will be served after the concert.

Sunday, October 30th

North Royalton Community Halloween Party (10/30/2005)
North Royalton High School, Gym 2, 6 pm. Admission Free

T’was the night before Halloween and all through the town,
Goblins are stirring and Ghosties abound…

And all of this will be happening at the citywide Halloween party and celebration being presented by North Royalton Community Show Band. Come celebrate with us on Sunday, October 30, at 6pm in Gym 2 at North Royalton High School.  Everyone in the city is invited.

Family entertainment, featuring colorful costumes, great music, comedy, a singer, a dancer and a black light stage production are some of the highlights of the early evening show. Top this all off with yet another great lights-out ghost story by spookmaster Carl Schanz. (Spooky enough to be fun, yet safe for young kids too.)  Then sing along with Debbie Decker to Jim Croce's Bad, Bad, Leroy Brown!

Dancer Nancy Hightower will be performing Anitra’s Dance to graceful, lyric music by Edvard Grieg. Again this year a black light stage presentation to the powerful music, Voodoo, will keep you wondering, “How’d they do that?” There’s even a brand new fun Halloween piece by composer and founding director of the band, Bill Park. It’s called “Graveyard Follies” and has subtitles: Early Bird, Digger’s Dirge, Dark Humor (Did you ever hear instruments laughing?) and Life Goes On.

Along with the band, co-sponsors of the admission-free event are North Royalton City Schools and the city of North Royalton .

The Indoor Trick or Treat Parade will be led by NRHS Field Commanders Chelsea Kociuba and Elisha Bender in full uniform. All youngsters in attendance are invited to be in the spotlight, show off their costumes and receive a treat along the route. Larger than life Halloween figures will be introduced in the parade for 2005. The band will furnish music during the march, including circus music and the Theme from Alfred Hitchcock, Funeral March of a Marionette. Treats are made possible by McDonalds, Rotary Club of North Royalton/Broadview Heights and Kiwanis of North Royalton.
